Erik Christian Haugaard's papers focus on his work as an author of children's and young adult fiction. The collection contains production material, consisting of manuscript materials only, for nine titles published between 1963 and 1995. Manuscript materials include corrected typescripts, corrected galley proofs, front matter, a layout, and a book jacket. There is also some manuscript material for an unpublished story, "The Old God Still Lives". The collection also contains a few pieces of correspondence and an audiocassette of a lecture titled, "Andersen, the Poet and His Fairy Tales", given by Haugaard at the Kerlan Collection at the University of Minnesota on March 15, 1973.
